Disability Assist will be attending this year’s RISE Expo on Wednesday 22nd June at the Kent Event Centre in Detling. This FREE event aims to celebrate all abilities, promote inclusion and offer advice on services for disability. We can be found at Stand 95 throughout the day, where our staff will be able to offer advice on any individual issues or concerns you may be experiencing.
Our CEO, Sophie Fournel, will be giving a talk to introduce you to Disability Assist at the Ability and Advice Theatre at 1.50pm. She will be covering the main services we offer, including benefits advice, peer support, advocacy, and information, support and advice on many areas of life with a disability or long-term health condition.
Additionally, Sophie will be chairing the Kent-wide Physical Disability Forum which will be taking place on the same stage at 2.30pm, immediately after her talk. This special meeting will give you an introduction to the Forum as well as an overview of what it is and why it exists. There will be a discussion on some of the most common issues that are heard by the Forum and an opportunity for you to share your opinions on these matters. The discussion will then open up to anything that attendees may wish to discuss and this is your chance to raise any issues that affect you as a disabled person in Kent. You will be able to learn how to get involved in the Forum and, ultimately, how you can become a part of making improvements across the county.
